Bobbye Pearson Obituary

Bobbye Jean Pearson, age 82, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, went to be with her Lord in heaven on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Bobbye was born on May 22, 1938, to the late Francis Prince and Roberta Wright in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her younger years were filled with dance and acrobatics.  During her high school years, she served as an assistant teacher at Henderson School of Dancing.  After graduating from Central High School, she was employed at American Trust Company while preparing for a career in professional dance. In 1957 while visiting her brother who was stationed at Eglin AFB, Bobbye met her soulmate, 1st Lieutenant George Pearson, a handsome Air Force pilot. George and Bobbye literally stopped in their tracks, gazed at each other, and never looked back.  They married later that year and she began the exciting and challenging life of a military wife.  Bobbye and George had three children over a span of two and a half years, yet she smoothly managed her roles as mother, military wife and support person for squadron wives. The family resided in Michigan, California, North Carolina, and finally returned to Fort Walton Beach for George’s retirement.  When their children were grown, Bobbye worked as an oral surgeon assistant, a loan processor, and finally the church secretary at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. During their retirement years, Bobbye and George enjoyed traveling, visiting children and grandchildren, and vacationing in Wyoming, Utah, and the mountains of North Carolina.  They celebrated anniversaries in Hawaii and their 50th on a Rhine riverboat cruise.  In later years, she traveled with her friend, Lou, on an Alaska cruise, a Mediterranean cruise, a land tour to Nova Scotia and a tour to Oberammergau in Europe.  Bobbye enjoyed attending church and Sunday school, Pastor’s weekly Bible Study, the Good Shepherd Life Team, and participating in the church quilting group for several years.

Bobbye had a servant’s heart and gave a little piece of herself to so many.  She was always looking for ways to serve others and make them smile.  Every morning she picked up her neighbors’ papers and laid them on their doorsteps.  She walked her friend’s little dog, Cutie, twice a day for several years.  Bobbye never forgot your birthday and always offered you a hot cup of coffee.  She could find any reason to give you a card and would write beautiful scriptures in them, never missing an opportunity to share the hope of Jesus with others.

Bobbye was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, George A. Pearson; and by her only son, George A. Pearson, Jr.  She is survived by her daughters, Tammie Rogers (Richard), Julie Cox (Tom); and grandchildren, Taylor Garcia (David), Jesse Rogers (Erin), and Natalie Gray. Bobbye is also survived by five precious great grandchildren, who were a light in her life:  Jack and Conor Rogers, Scarlett and Audrey Gray, and Charlie Faye Garcia. She is also survived by her beloved brother, F.P. Wright (Gloria), and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Meigs Drive, Shalimar, FL, on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Ray Angerman officiating. The service will also be livestreamed for those who can’t attend.  Interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, at 2 P.M. following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, missions or to the Good Shepherd Life Team of which Bobbye was an active member.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
