Bobbie Patrick Obituary

Bobbie Patrick (86) of Santa Rosa Beach went to be with our Lord on June 16, 2020 while at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend.

She was born Bobbie Mae Pettigrew in Shiloh, Tennessee on November 18,1933, the fifth of nine children born to Eber Thetus Pettigrew and Vestal Rodgers Pettigrew.  Bobbie married her high school sweetheart, James A. Patrick, Jr. on March 18, 1950, and they remained married until his death in 2004.

She attended Michie High School where she was the top scoring female basketball player in Tennessee her last year of high school.  After starting her family, she became a homemaker.  Her career included being a teller, and subsequently the head teller, at First National Bank of Fort Walton Beach; where she became the first bank teller in the history of Okaloosa County to be robbed.  She subsequently worked with her husband as the office manager of his swimming pool businesses, Patrick Pools, and Destin Pool Service Inc.  Prior to her retirement, she served as an administrative assistant at the Walton County Sheriff’s Department in DeFuniak Springs.  Bobbie was a member of Central Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach.

Bobbie was a beautiful soul, a strong and energetic woman, who led a life of giving, sharing, caring, adventure, exploration, and so much else.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. In her lifetime, she lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, and for the past fifty-five years was a Florida resident in Fort Walton Beach, DeFuniak Springs, and Santa Rosa Beach.  She visited more than thirty states and spent three and a half years in England.  Her hobbies included gardening, crossword puzzles, making dolls for her grandchildren, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Judith Ann (Jude) Patrick of Ocean View, Hawaii, Barbara Patrick Boockholdt (Keith) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Linda Patrick Fassnacht (Tom) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; daughter-in-law, Kathy Lindsey Patrick; grandchildren, Marla Riddle Monge (Felipe), Joe Riddle (Kelly), Jamie Patrick Hinkle, Steven Boockholdt (Tara), Stephanie Fassnacht Didsbury (Andy), Bobbie Patrick Spencer (Eric), Tracy Boockholdt, Rosella Fassnacht Washington (Tim), and Abigail Fassnacht; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Pettigrew (Ann); sister-in-law, Rosemary Patrick Landreth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Eber Thetus Pettigrew and Vestal Lettie Rodgers Pettigrew; husband of fifty-four years, James Alvis (Pat) Patrick, Jr.; son, James Alvis “Pat” Patrick, III; brothers, Laverne Pettigrew, Jerald Pettigrew, and James E. (Pete) Pettigrew; sisters, Vonda Ruth (Pat) Pettigrew Russell, Kathryn Pettigrew Heinz, Iona Jean (Jean) Pettigrew Morris, and Mina Lou (Ludy) Pettigrew Vise.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Destiny Worship Center, 122 Poinciana Boulevard, Miramar Beach, Florida 32550, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Garland Rowland of Destiny Worship Center and Dr. Kevin R. Davidson of Lexington, Kentucky.  Family are invited to join in fellowship at Bobbie’s home in Santa Rosa Beach following the service.

There will be no graveside service at this time.  Bobbie’s wish was that her body be donated to science.  She will be interred next to her beloved husband at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her name to a charity of your choosing.

The family would like to thank the kind and dedicated staff at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast for making Bobbie’s transition to her next adventure so comfortable.
