Billy Ray Fountain, age 78, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his home in Dorcas, Florida, surrounded by his family. He was born April 16, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama to Bruce and Jewel Revels Fountain, and raised in Florala, Alabama. He retired from the Miami Herald Newspaper as an offset pressman in 2001 and moved closer to his hometown to be with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother in 1996, and his father in 2000.
Billy leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Rusty Burke of Dorcas, Florida; daughter Teresa Henley of Dorcas, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Rawls, Jeffrey (Kelly) Pryor, Amanda (Tim) Foxhall, and Shelly Marie Pryor; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rawls, Kyanna Oliver, Rylee Grant, Alyssa Rawls, Gracie Cade, and Dean Rawls; siblings, Joe (Betty) Fountain, Janice Gainey, Willa Jean Adkinson, Lamar Fountain, and Paulette Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the home of Shelly Pryor in Crestview, Florida, from 5 to 7 p.m. The family has requested that they be contacted by Facebook for the address. Graveside services will beginning at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Consolation Cemetery located in Coffee County, Alabama on County Road 725. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.
