Billie Small Madero, 89, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, passed on April 25, 2021 she was born on November 23, 1931 in Monroe, Indiana to parents, J Carlton Small and Thelma Young, she served in the United States Air Force and worked for years in civil service as an Office Administrator. She was a wizard at keeping all the files in perfect order and was even called upon after her retirement and pleaded with her to come back and help them organize all the records again.
Billie worked for the Okaloosa County Child and Family services.
Billie was quite the athlete, she participated in countless triathlons, always taking first prize in her age group. Everyone in the Triathlon community knew Billie Madero and was amazed at what this petite lady could do in her 80s! She made many lifelong friends and was an advocate for all animals. She supported charities for animals, took in strays and made sure they had all their shots. All the stray cats surrounding her neighborhood knew where to come for a good meal. She rescued her greyhound, Lenny, and her Yorkshire Terrier, Owen as well.
Billie is survived by Michael Madero and Pam Madero, Chong (Kim) Madero, Diane Ruane and Bud Ruane, Teresa Logiotatos and Tim Logiotatos, David Madero and Donna Jones. She had seven grandchildren; Tony, Billie, Michael, Stephen, Beau, Krystyna, Heather and CJ; five great grandchildren, Marisa, Mika, Cody, Saniyah, and Eliza. Her extended family includes another three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; Owen, her Yorkie, Rascal, her Brussels, Griffin and countless friends.
Graveside services will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL, Friday, June 11, 2021, starting at 11:30 a.m. with military honors.
