Bette Evans passed from this life into life everlasting May 3, 2021 at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 5 days. Daughter of the late Charles William Shaffer and Mildred Bell Jones Shaffer, she was born March 28,1936 in the family home at Kanawha - 2 Mile, West Virginia.
As a child her father went off to war and perished. The remaining family, Mildred, Barbara and Bette moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1945 where she grew up and graduated from St. Pete High School. She and Andrew S. Evans were married November 26, 1955 in St. Pete and made their home there. Moving to the Fort Walton Beach area in 1970, then onto West Virginia. Returning to Northwest Florida in 2004, Mom and Dad celebrated 65 years of marriage together as a team forever. Bette loved the outdoors, nurturing every growing plant in her path. While traveling all around the world and the United States, she never met a stranger. She always engaged with every soul she met.
In addition to her parents, Bette is preceded in death by her sister, Melissa.
She is survived by her husband Andrew S. Evans, Sr. of Mossy Head, Florida; sister, Barbara Weaver of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter, Ramona Hope Evans also of St. Petersburg Florida; daughter, Mary Pentel and husband Larry of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; son, Andrew Evans Jr. and wife Sonya of Crestview, Florida; grandchildren, Andrew S. Evans III, Sara Violet Evans and husband Max, Cory Evans, Darcy Pentel and husband Chris, Laura Pentel-Klang, and William Pentel; and 10 precious Great Grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated with no services.
