Benny Ross Goodson, Sr.

Benny Ross Goodson, Sr., age 77, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. He was born in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, to the late Violet Irene Goodson. A forklift driver by trade, Benny worked for Panasonic in Chicago for thirty-six years until his retirement. When he wasn't making sure that his cars were clean, he enjoyed riding his bicycle, playing tennis, and watching sports, but most of all, Benny loved fishing and he loved to shop. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Irma Davis, Lorene Goodman, Alice Hennessy, Bernice Kellogg, Wendell Goodson, Noah Goodson, and Norma Jean Hartfield.

Left to cherish Benny's memory are two daughters, Andromeda Robinson Reed and husband, Andre, and Melinda Goodson and husband, Chris; one son, Benny Ross Goodson, Jr. and wife, Angela; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Connie Macias.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North,  DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Walter Ales officiating.
