Archie McDaniel

CMSgt Archie McDaniel passed away on January 10, 2025. He was a resident of Bob Hope Village in Shalimar, Florida. The son of Vernon and Jessie McDaniel, Archie was born on June 27, 1934, in Coffee County, Georgia, where he attended schools in West Green and Douglas.

Archie joined the United States Air Force on January 20, 1955. He was stationed at FE Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, Ardmore AFB, Oklahoma, Keflavik AB, Iceland, Carswell AFB, Texas, Osan AB, South Korea, Perrin AFB, Texas, McClellan AFB, California, Kadena AB, Japan, Maxwell AFB Gunter Annex, Alabama, and Kunsan AB, South Korea.  He served in Logistics until, after 30 years of service, he retired from Eglin AFB, Florida on February 1, 1985. During his time in active duty, he traveled the world and met many fine service members and was extremely dedicated to his work. Thank you for your service and dedication to our country, Archie.

After his Military career, Archie spent his time playing golf, scuba diving, fishing, scalloping, and RVing.  He acquired his Captain’s License for his boat, the PJ II in Destin, Florida and chartered many deep-sea fishing trips with family, friends and visitors.

Archie was as generous as they come; he would give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it.  Larger than life, charming, kind, fiery and unpredictable, He lived life to the fullest. He was my husband, lover, best friend and soulmate for 40 years.  He was loved unconditionally. He will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Jessie McDaniel; and seven siblings, Lee McDaniel, Gladys Evans Deason, Brooks McDaniel, Muriel Kirkland, Evelyn Browning, Butler McDaniel, and Russell McDaniel; as well as son, Jeffery McDaniel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Jordan McDaniel; sons, Randy McDaniel and Gregory McDaniel; sister, Joan G. Borem; and grandchildren, Erin, Hailey, Meah and Carson.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations, in Archie’s name, to the charity of your own choosing.
