Amos Dean Phipps, age 92, of Laurel Hill, Florida, died peacefully May 28, 2022.
Amos was born August 15, 1929, in Syracuse, New York where he lived most of his life. In his younger years his family would travel with his evangelist father to churches and meetings in Central New York. As a child, his ministry for the Lord was singing and playing the trumpet. After finishing high school, he joined the Navy in August of 1948, serving for four years. He married Joan (Craig) on December 28, 1951. Upon his discharge in August of 1952, they moved back to Syracuse. Amos and Joan joined the Syracuse Alliance Church, where they faithfully served until moving away in 2004. Amos and his partner, Jim McMahon, owned Healy Plumbing and Heating in the Syracuse area until he retired in 1992. Amos and Joan (Sam) loved boating and would travel the surrounding rivers and lakes with their family. God gifted him with a beautiful bass voice, and he enjoyed blessing people and glorifying God through many cantatas, quartets, and choirs over the years.
Amos is survived by three children, Deborah {Judd) Holbrook of Montrose, Pennsylvania, Mike (Georgia) Phipps of Pace, Florida, and Valerie (Chris) Wilber of Laurel Hill, Florida with whom he has lived the last ten years; seven grandchildren, Judd M. His life was about FAITH and FAMILY.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness. 2Timothy 4:7,8
