Ae Cha "Kim" Brown, 78, of Crestview, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026. She was born on March 15, 1948, in South Korea.
Ae Cha was a loving, passionate woman. When she loved, she loved deeply. She would do anything for her family and always put everyone else before herself.
My mom never gave herself much credit, but in the 1980's she set out to learn English and earn her U.S. citizenship. She continued taking classes throughout her life because she never stopped wanting to learn. She then devoted herself wholeheartedly to her faith, completing four weeks of church classes and earning numerous certificates along the way.
She loved our Lord so much that we used to joke she lived at church more than she did at home. Every morning she would send us Bible scriptures because, if we weren’t going to church, she was determined to bring church to us.
She also loved to cook and feed people. You could try to say no, but if you sat at her table, you were going to eat something whether you wanted to or not. Her love was often expressed through food.
Naturally, she wanted everything fresh, so she started a garden. What began as one small corner of the backyard eventually grew until nearly the entire yard was filled with fresh vegetables. She took great pride in growing food for her family and sharing it with others.
Above all, my mother lived a life of faith, love, generosity, and service. Her legacy will continue to live on through the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the example she set for all of us.
She is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Banning; and granddaughter, Kalena Brown.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Global Mission Baptist Church, 1055 Pearl Street South, Crestview, Florida, 32539. A time of visitation will be held an hour prior at 9:00 a.m.
Arrangements and services are under the care of Davis-Watkins Crestview Memorial.
