Willie Edward Hare, age 94, of Freeport, Florida passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He was born October 17, 1924 in Bruce, Florida the son of John and Sarah Cooper Hare. He was one of the few remaining Army veterans who faithfully served his country during WWII. After leaving the military, he worked several different jobs before starting with Civil Service at Eglin, retiring after 23 years of employment. He was a Mason for 50 plus years in Freeport, belonging to Herman Lodge 108. Willie was a member of Black Creek Methodist Church for most of his adult life. He was an avid fisherman, mostly fresh water, and enjoyed hunting.
He is preceded in death by one infant daughter; two sisters, Ila Caswell and Johnnie McCormick; and one infant brother.
Willie is survived by two sons, Jerry Evans and wife Jill and Wayne Evans and wife Pat; two daughters, Elaine Boyle and husband Wade and Vilma Nussihold; one brother, Willard Hare; one sister, Mae McCormick; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at Black Creek Methodist Church, 102 Memorial Lane, Freeport, Florida 32439 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor Don McManus will be officiating. Committal services will follow in Black Creek Church Cemetery.
