William “Bill” Howell Johnson, age 90, of Baker FL passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola Florida.
Bill was born in Baker FL on October 7, 1927 to Fox and Pearl McCart Johnson. He married Loraine Murdaugh Johnson on October 22, 1950 in Charleston SC. He entered the Navy as a Boatswain’s Mate in 1944 and retired as a Recruiter in 1968. Once retired from the Navy, Bill became a farmer in his home town. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne Stanley (Richard); his three grandchildren, Joel Stanley (Doris), Heather Strickland (Shane), and Kevin Ard (Katie); and his four great-grandchildren, Nikki Richmond, Levi Ard, Charles Strickland, and Banner Stanley.
He now joins his parents, Fox and Pearl McCart Johnson; brothers, Robert, Cecil and James Johnson; sisters, Mary Taylor and Thell Newby; his much beloved wife, Loraine Johnson and his daughter, Marie Ard.
A funeral service will take place at Pyron Spring Chapel, 6494 William Gary Johnson Road, Baker Florida 32531 at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 18, 2018 with a visitation starting at 2:00 PM. Minister Glenn Howze will be officiating.
A warm heartfelt thank you to all that have cared for Bill during the last couple of years, through his time of death and that have assisted with his services. You have meant so much to him and his family.
