Wayne “Dale” Wise, age 59, of Paxton, Florida, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018. He was born June 20, 1959 in Florala, Alabama to Frances Wise, but was raised by his grandparents, Ressie and Willie Wise in the Gaskin area of Walton County. For many years, he was employed with the sewing factory industry in South Alabama, and later worked in construction operating heavy equipment. Learning early of his love of the outdoors, Dale became a great fisherman, spending his summers on the rivers, creeks, and ponds of the area. In the winter months, he loved to hunt the local woods.
He is preceded by his mother, Frances Wise Jackson; step-father, Lloyd “Snowball” Jackson; grandparents; an infant son, Anthony Wayne Wise; and daughter, Sarah Miller Jones.
Dale is survived by his son, Chris Holder of Paxton, Florida; grandson, Hayden Jones of Crestview, Florida; two granddaughters, Leann and Danelle Holder also of Paxton; three sisters, Patricia Laird, Marie Farris, and Tammy Vaughn all of Alabama; caregiver and friend, Marie Holley; and a large number of family and friends.
Flowers are being accepted or donations can be made to Covenant Hospice in his memory.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home beginning at 1 p.m. with Joe Franklin officiating. Committal services will follow in Gaskin Cemetery.
