Tony Bernard Campbell, age 52, a resident of Florala, Alabama, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, in Dothan, Alabama. He was born March 9, 1966 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, to the late Annie Mae Campbell. He attended Walton High School, but graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida in 1984. God blessed Tony with a musical talent he willingly and eagerly shared with others. He faithfully served his Lord and Savior in numerous area churches thru his music ministry of drums, keyboard, and voice singing up-lifting praises. Deacon Campbell accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of St. Stephens of Freeport, Florida and later Orange Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Chipley, Florida under the leadership of Reverend Malcolm Nelson.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Annie Mae Campbell.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Shirlan Williams Campbell and his family to whom he loved equally: four daughters, Jessicia Campbell, and Saundra Williams of Florala, Alabama, Shakeisha Durm of Dothan, Alabama and Samircle Dennis of Navarre, Florida; one son, Brandon Baldwin of Florala, Alabama; seven loving grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra and Latisha Campbell both of Defuniak Springs, Florida; two brothers, Lynn Campbell and wife Jerine of Newport News, Virginia and Lewis Campbell of Savannah, Georgia; three aunts, Ida Campbell, Gassie Grant, and Dorothy Barnes; one uncle, Kenneth Campbell; three sisters-in-law, Joan Williams of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Monica and Vera Whitaker both of Montgomery, Alabama; two brothers-in law, Ricki Oates of Opp, Alabama and Alfred Whitaker of Freeport, Florida; two great aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; three special friends, Roy C. Bramlet, Samuel Williams, and Henry Beach; three godsons, Travecio Wengert, Cedrick Broxton, and Cameron Bradberry.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church in Laurel Hill, Florida. Repast will follow in the church fellowship hall.
