Thomas Holman Obituary

Thomas Wells Holman, age 77, of Vernon, Florida passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at his residence of natural causes. Tom was born October 17, 1940 in Hartford, Alabama, to Jake and Mattibel Holman. He was a graduate of Geneva County High School Class of ‘59 and received his Bachelor of Education from Auburn University in 1972.

Tom proudly served in the United States Navy. He taught drama, English, and speech therapy in Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia and Florida. He had a love for teaching and mentoring his students.

Tom had a love for plants and owned the Boulderbrook Nursery in Dinwiddie, Virginia for 25 years. He had a love for Grayton Beach, gardening and cooking. He was a lifetime member of the American Hemerocallis Society. Tom loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene and Jerry Holman.

Tom is survived by his children Andy Holman, Lee Holman Scott (Becky), and Paul Douglas Holman; the mother of his children, Vivian Holman of Hartford, Alabama; three grandchildren, Tony (Leah) Scott, Thomas Scott and Isabella Beals; many dear, loved cousins; and extended family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Hartford First United Methodist Church in Hartford, Alabama beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
