Sherrion Ellis Holmes, age 69, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 in Crestview, Florida. He was born June 3, 1949 in DeFuniak Springs to Joseph and Leola Manning Holmes. He was faithful member and served as usher of Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was known as a man of his word. Sherrion retired from Chrysler after over 30 years of employment. He loved to bowl and had a very outgoing personality. He was loved by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas and Ralph Holmes; and two sisters, Faye Malone and Mavis Owens.
Sherrion is survived by three daughers, Alecia Holmes, Lynette Holmes, and god-daughter Tonya Potter and husband Wayne; one son, Tavares Brazier and wife Tammie; host of grandchildren; brothers, Willie Holmes and wife Ernestine, Emory Holmes, Tonie Holmes and wife Marsha; sisters, Jeroline Farmer and Frail Wiggs and husband Willie. The family would like to acknowledge Joyce Holmes, Carolyn Sheffield, and Pamela Hooks; numerous nieces, nephews, and aunt Mary Francis.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, from 6 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor A.M. Johnson officiating. Committal services will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
