Samuel Rodriguez Obituary

Samuel “Zorro” Rodriguez Sr, age 65, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018.  He was born October 19, 1953 to Iram and Carmela Rodriguez in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.  Samuel was married to his loving wife, Clotilde for 36 years.  He graduated from Youngstown East High School and worked in the steel mills in Youngstown, Ohio, he also served twenty two years in the air force as an aerial gunner for 16th SOS Spectre Squadron and worked for the city of Fort Walton Beach as a Sewer Collection System Technician. 


Samuel loved to tinker and was a backyard mechanic, he always said “anything can be fixed”. He also loved to referee baseball and football games, play softball and was called the Cheetah.  Can’t forget his Cleveland Browns, that was his team, even though we teased him about his Browns, he was dedicated to them.

Samuel is survived by Delora Rose Rodriguez and her family; Isabel Alicea-Luciano and spouse Gino Alicea-Luciano and Carmen M. Rodriguez; grandchildren, Carmen Malaya Rodriguez, Lily Rodriguez, Francisco Juan, Carmine E. Alicea-Luciano, Sophia I. Alicea-Luciano and Januu Juan; siblings, Maria Figueroa, Ángel Luis Rodriguez, Ruth Oración, Jose Rodriguez, Carmen Lydia Rodriguez, fifteen nieces and nephews and so many wonderful friends from the 16th SOS Spectre Squadron and the City of Ft. Walton Beach. He is preceded in death by son, Samuel D. Rodriguez Jr.; father, Iram Rodriguez; mother, Carmela Rodriguez and brothers, Hiram and Elias Rodriquez.  

Services will take place at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 NE Racetrack Road, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida 32547 on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Samuel.
