Ruth Elizabeth Gibb

Ruth Gibb, 78 of Destin Florida, passed away August 31, 2019 in Destin Florida.  She was born in Washington D.C. to Joseph and Margaret Correll. She grew up in Danvers, IL, graduating in 1959.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Doris Emmett and Fran Cuno and brother Robert Correll. She is survived by brother, Richard Correll and wife Lola Correll of Pensacola Florida; daughters, Lori Gibb and husband David Levy of Lyons Colorado, Heidi Whitfield and husband Rick Whitfield of Louisville Colorado; and grandson Justin Whitfield and fiancé Sara Ridder of Frederick Colorado.  

Ruth moved to Florida in 1986 after living in Colorado for many years. She was the day manager and bookkeeper for Ocean Club restaurant in Destin for over 20 years.  She was very involved in her community volunteering with her church and the local snowbird association. She loved all animals advocating for their care and wellbeing. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity or Ruth’s favorite, The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg CO.

A celebration of her life is being planned for Saturday October 5, 2019 in Destin at 3:00pm at Faith Assembly Christian Church 306 S Geronimo St. Miramar Beach, FL 32550 with a get together to follow at Captain Dave’s Restaurant.
