Robert "Bobby" Jackson Obituary

Robert (Bobby) LeRoy Jackson, age 65, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Fort Walton Beach Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on October 19, 1953 in Bonifay, Florida, to Junior LeRoy and Christine Jackson.

Robert was a high school graduate from Silver Sands School.  Robert participated in the Special Olympics many years when he was physically able to do so. He competed in bowling, softball throw and bocce all. He placed first place many times over the years and always looked forward to the event. Robert had a special place in his heart for the Fort Walton Beach Fire Fighters and he would never miss an opportunity.to interact with them or just stop by their fire house to express his sincere appreciation for them and what they do. His relationship with the Fort Walton Beach fire department started at the early age of 10 years old and continued until he went to FW Rehab Center in January 2018. He was given the title of Honorary Fire Marshal many years ago and was given his own badge, helmet, fire fighter coat and lockers at Station 6 on Hollywood Boulevard and Station 7 Lewis Turner Boulevard of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  Robert attended and was a member of the Cinco Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was a longtime attendee of Horizons Workshop in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Robert is survived by his mother, Christine Jackson of Fort Walton Beach, FL; sisters, Elizabeth Collier and her husband, Bruce, of Navarre, FL, and Crista Larson and her husband, Ben, of Fort Walton Beach, FL; nieces, Diane Fowler and her husband, Doug, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Barbara Collier of Pensacola, FL, and Jamie Wagner her husband, Brad, of Great Falls, MT; great niece and nephews, Eli Fowler of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Jillian Wagner of Great Falls, MT, and Colby Wagner of Great Falls, MT; and his beloved pets, Sweet Pea and Rosie. He was preceded in death by his father, Junior LeRoy Jackson; all grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Funeral services will be held at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 113 NE Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, FL, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Ken Loubriel officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Pallbearers are Firefighters Max Baxley, Thearon Shipman, David Stone, James Freudenberg, Nate DeBois and Daniel Corrigan.

In-Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Fort Walton Beach Fire Department, Stations 6 or 7, in memory of Robert Jackson.

Thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice, Fort Walton Beach Rehabilitation Center and Horizons Workshop for all who provided their care and special attention to Robert. A special thanks to the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department and all its firefighters for making Robert feel like one of the family and giving him a life of memories.
