Raymond Franklin Meyer, Jr.

Raymond Franklin Meyer Jr. passed on Wednesday June 26, 2019 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Ray was born on September 4, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to his parents Ray and Edith Meyer. Ray was an architect, engineer, and Vice-President of Ingalls Iron Works in NY, PA, and Birmingham, AL for 25 years.  He served as a lieutenant in the Army Reserves. He married Carol Schweickert on June 4, 1961. They were happily and wonderfully married for over 54 years. The Meyers lived in Queens, NY, Natrona Heights, and Zelienople, both suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, Birmingham, AL, Destin, and Santa Rosa Beach, FL. After moving to Destin Ray owned and operated Bay Wood Realty for over twenty years. Dad loved boating, telling jokes, singing, and being with his family and friends. But most especially Ray deeply loved the Lord Jesus and enjoyed reading and studying His word. He was a member and past Elder of Immanuel Anglican Church.

Ray was an outstanding example of a father and loving husband.  Ray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Tim Sheldon; his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond III and Barbara Meyer.  He is also survived by his sister, Marie Marklein; his niece and husband, Jan and Millard Matthews; his niece and husband, Judy and Chris Schenk; and his niece and her son, Jill and Shawn James all from Virginia. Ray had many dear friends too numerous to count. Ray is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; and his parents, Raymond and Edith Meyer.

A graveside service will be held at Gulf Cemetery, 1466 S County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 on Saturday, June 29th at 1:00 pm followed by a time of reflection at the family home to be announced at graveside.
