Opal Westgate Obituary
Opal Gillum Westgate, age 88, of Niceville, Florida, passed away peacefully at Twin Cities Hospital Wednesday, August 8, 2018. She was born August 22, 1929, the daughter of Robert Lee and Edith McBride Gillum, in Lawrence County, Illinois. She worked as a florist most of her life and was an established artist.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lois Gillum Lynch, Hazel Gillum Fleetwood, Mildred Marie Gillum, Evelyn Gillum Miliken and Shirley Jean Gillum Patrick; and brothers, Lyman, Faye, and Albert Gillum.
Opal is survived by her daughter, Catherine P. McIntyre and husband Warren; one sister, Marilyn (Brownie) Bernice Gillum Hayes; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of good neighbors in the Niceville area.
The family would like to thank Dr. Blankenship and his staff for their years of wonderful care for Opal, also the staff at Twin Cities Hospital, and Emerald Coast Hospice for their care and support over the past few days.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
