Naomi Venable Shermer, age 93, passed away on July 2, 2019 at her home in Valparaiso, Florida.
She was born on August 26, 1925 in Leeds, Alabama to Daniel Ausenberry Venable and Alice Mae (Vaughn) Venable. She graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1947 and worked as a registered nurse helping others until she retired in 1992. In 1953, Naomi was married to Daniel T. Shermer (deceased) in Atlanta, Georgia. She lived at her home in Valparaiso, Florida since 1962.
Naomi is survived by her five sons; Daniel T. Shermer, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Perry V. Shermer of Valparaiso, Florida, Barry S. Shermer of Nashville, Tennessee, Neal H. Shermer of Valparaiso, Florida and Jason P. Shermer of Mobile, Alabama. She is also survived by her two granddaughters; Amelia K. “Katie” (Shermer) Keel of Denver, Colorado and Emily A. Shermer of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.
Funeral Services will be held at Cornerstone Worship Center, 444 Valparaiso Parkway, Valparaiso, Florida, 32580 on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso.
