Matthew Moses Gilbert

Matthew Moses Gilbert, age 29, of Freeport, Florida passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019. He was born March 11, 1989 in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.  He was a  member of the Freeport High School Bulldogs Football Team and a graduate of the class of 2007. Matthew enjoyed being out on the water, fishing, helping others, and spending time with his family, especially time with his daughter Brooklyn, who was his greatest love and joy in life. 

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Hilda Gilbert; paternal grandfather, Farrell Gilbert; and maternal grandfather, William Herschel Millsaps.

Matthew is survived by his father, Steve F. Gilbert; mother, Deanna M. Ammons; two sisters, Whitney Gilbert Padgett and Trinity G. Gilbert; brother, Steve Caleb Gilbert; daughter, Brooklynn Gilbert; maternal grandmother, Marilyn V. Millsaps; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Matt's life will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Heritage Church of Freeport beginning at 6 p.m. with Pastor Joel Davis officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
