Marilyn Schilling Obituary

Miramar Beach — Marilyn Paradise Schilling, a resident of Sandestin and Marietta, GA, died September 6, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living in Miramar Beach, FL.

Born in 1948 in Pawtucket, RI, Marilyn spent most of her youth in Natchez, MS.  Marilyn attended the Mississippi State College for Women and received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1970.  She married Joseph Quitman Schilling, Jr. on June 18th, 1971 and they began their life together in Marietta, GA.  They had two boys, Dan and David, and Marilyn was the most loving, caring, and supportive mother.

Marilyn was an educator with Cobb County (GA) Schools from 1997 to 2007, where she taught Middle School science.  She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, GA, where she was also an educator though the youth Sunday school program.  After retirement, Marilyn and Joby moved to Miramar Beach, FL and enjoyed many beautiful sunsets.

Marilyn was devoted to her family, loved music, and enjoyed helping others more than anything. 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Everett, her mother, Irene, and her sister Elaine.  She is survived by her husband Joby, her two sons, David, Dan (Stephanie); two grandchildren, Caden and Makynlee; her sister Barbara; and her two brothers, David (Betty) and Robert (Ann).

Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The Davis Watkins Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements and a Celebration of Life service will be held at the Community Church, 3524 US 98, Santa Rosa Beach, FL  32459 on Friday September 20th at 2:00pm.
