Margaret "Margie" Avery

Margaret “Margie” Ann Avery, of Freeport, Florida passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, one day before her 83rd birthday. A great sense of humor, sassy, outspoken, and a big, generous heart for helping others in need, all described Margie.  She loved quilting, crocheting, fishing, birds, animals, and was an avid gardener.  She was a good cook who owned hundreds of recipe books.  After 18 years of employment, she retired from Bangor Mental Health Institute as a supervisor.  Following retirement, she traveled some and enjoyed attending family functions.   In Margie’s mind, there were no better places on earth to be than Ollies, Walmart, Golden Corral, and Po’Folks.  She had an extensive collection of teapots and bird houses.  Margie loved the Lord and attended the Freeport Assembly of God Church. The family is sure she is the keeper of animals in Heaven.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Avery Sr.; one grandson Brandon Cook; and eight siblings.

She is survived by eight children, James H. Couch and wife Sharon, of Luckey, OH., Kathleen M. Martin of Brewer, ME., Tamara L. Ferrell and husband Vernon of Galion, OH., Deniese R. Roark and husband Rusty of Bruce, FL., John E. Avery and wife Chrisme of Freeport, FL., Randy A. Avery and wife Tracy of Freeport, FL., Frank E. Avery of Ponce De Leon, FL., Gary P. Farkas and wife Wendy of Donalsonville, GA.; twenty-three grandchildren; and thirty-one great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Margie's life will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Heritage Church of Freeport beginning at 6 p.m. with Pastor Joel Davis officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
