Linda Horton Obituary

Linda Richwine Horton passed away on April 18, 2019, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was born March 25, 1941, in Bethesda, Maryland, and was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Horton; her parents, Alfred and Martha Richwine; and her sister, Patricia Richwine.

Linda grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. She attended the University of Maryland where she met and married Chuck, her husband of 56 years.

After a vacation in the panhandle, the family moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1974 for good.  Linda worked in sales and catering at the Ramada Inn before joining her husband as co-owner of Giff’s Sub Shoppe #4 in Mary Esther. There they worked side by side for years providing great food and making many wonderful friends and memories.

Linda loved her family. Her greatest joy was having her children and grandchildren near by. She was always looking for ways to bring everyone together. She loved working in the yard, bird watching, reading, floating in her pool and taking long walks. She loved the beach and a good mimosa.  She and Chuck also spent a few years exploring n their RV after they retired from the sub business.  Linda also volunteered with Shelter House and Sharing and Caring, always thinking about ways she could make a difference.

She is survived by her son, Trey and wife, Patti; son, Steve and wife, Jerral; daughter, Bethany; and grandchildren, Charlie, Natalie, Shane, Brooks, Delaney, and Avery. She is also survived by many friends, including Ellen and Frank Deckert, Bob Deckert, and Mary Walton, who continued to provide friendship and support to not only Linda but her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fort Walton Rehabilitation Center for their care of Linda during her stay. In accordance with her wishes, Linda was cremated. The family will have a private ceremony.  Arrangements are entrusted to Davis- Watkins Funeral Home.

To honor Linda, smile at a stranger, do something nice for a friend, shower your family with love. She did.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
