Mr. Leonard Lee Johnson, 93, passed away November 13, 2019, at Carington Manor in Crestview, Florida. A memorial service was held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., November 16, 2019, at Memory Hill Cemetery in Albertville, Alabama.
He was born in Gadsden, Alabama, to Leonard and Clara Johnson. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War and continued to serve others as a faithful member of the Church of Christ. He retired from Southeastern Bell Telephone after 35 years, and spent his retirement doing what he loved - woodworking, building and fixing things, gardening and visiting with family and friends. He was always singing or humming a tune and enjoyed helping others with his handyman skills. He was a devoted husband and father and will be lovingly remembered.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Johnson and David (Marlea) Johnson; daughter, Patrice Johnson (Steve) Surber; grandsons, Zach (Julia) Johnson and Ryan (Emily) Johnson; sisters, Nancy (John) Mount, Francis (Tom) Pope and Sue (Phil) Beeman; brother, Mike (Brenda) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary Oliver Johnson, his parents and seven siblings.
