Greta "Betty" Pauline (Houghton) Wilson

Greta Pauline Wilson, age 85, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at her residence.  She was born March 29, 1933 in England, the daughter of George and Gertrude Houghton.  Although her legal name was Greta, she insisted everyone call her “Betty.”  After working 18 years with the British Soap Company, she retired and moved to the United States.  She has lived in DeFuniak since 2011.  Playing Bingo with friends at the local VFW and DAV as well as visiting the casino in Atmore, Alabama was truly an enjoyment for her.

Betty is survived by three sons, Glen Houghton of England, Richard Wilson and Jason Wilson both of Polk City, Florida; four daughters, Debbie Kearney of Ireland, Donna Ortiz of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Theresa Reoh of Kissimmee, Florida, and Karen Sullivan of Sandestin, Florida; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ron Houghton of Barton Mills, UK, Pete Houghton of Coventry, UK, and Lawerence Houghton of Mildenhall, UK; and one sister, Ann Houghton also of Mildenhall, UK.  

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be given to the DAV.  Monies collected will be used to purchase wheelchairs for veterans.  Donations may be mailed to:  LeAnn Armstrong – DAV, Post Office Box 89, DeFuniak Springs 32433.
