George Bishop Obituary

George M. Bishop, age 91, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018.  He was born April 14, 1927 in Walton County, Florida to George Matison and Janie Elizabeth Wright Bishop.  In his younger years, he earned a living by trapping game, guiding fisherman up and down the Choctawhatchee River, and retrieving logs from the waters of the river in the Bruce area.  He retired after working with 4-Mile Village Home Rentals of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for more than forty years.  He loved spending time outdoors, farming, and beautifying his property, but most of all he enjoyed telling others about the good ol’ days he had experienced, which included the good times as well as the hard times.  Family was very important to him and they will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 64 years, Lucille Bozeman Bishop, four brothers, and five sisters.

George is survived by his four children, Marvin Bishop and wife Cathy, Virginia Miller and husband Donald, Kenny Bishop, Regina Presley and husband Michael; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Bruce Assembly of God Church beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Presley officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior. Committal services will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Bruce, Florida.  Those asked to serve as pallbearers are:  Marvin Bishop, Kenny Bishop, Donald Miller, Carlton Presley, Kirk Royce, and Dwain McCormick and Little Man Killian Royce will serve as the honorary pallbearer.
