Ersell "Doris" Neale

Ersell Doris Neale, 90, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2019. She was born on March 14, 1929 to William M. Neale, Sr. and Ersell F. Neale in Greensboro, NC. Doris, as she was known to her friends, grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Guilford College, there she started her career in hospital admissions in Greensboro while dutifully looking after her mother who had been widowed at a young age. After her mother’s passing, she moved to Ft. Walton Beach in 1968 to be close to her brother and his family. She continued her hospital career at the Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center in Registration and as a Switchboard Operator for over 40 years. After her second retirement from the hospital she faithfully served as a long-term volunteer in the Hospital Auxiliary. Outside of work, Doris enjoyed exercise classes, line dancing, bicycling, sewing, going to the movies with her friends, and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William M. Neale, Jr. and his wife, Marjorie B. Neale; nephew, Lt. James T. Neale; great niece, Dori Ann Neale; nephew-in-law, Paul Chadwell and great nephew, Bryan Chadwell. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Susan Chadwell of Atlanta, GA; Cristela Neale Webb and husband Rendell of New Braunfels, TX; Carol and Robby Hidalgo of Jacksonville, FL; Jean Neale of Mobile, AL; Billy and Kristi Neale of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Libby and Bo LeBlanc, of Ft. Walton Bch., FL; Robert and Cindy Neale of DeFuniak Springs, FL. and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 NE Racetrack Road, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida 32547. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made, in Doris's memory, to Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center Auxiliary, 1000 Mar Walt Dr., Ft. Walton Beach, Florida 32547.
