Ernest Eugene "Gene" Gentry

Gene Gentry, age 75 of Miramar Beach, FL passed away Friday, June 1, 2018.  The world lost a great man. 

Gene was born Sept. 19, 1942 in Greenville, TX and married the love of his life Dorothy Gentry (Bliss) on July 17, 1959 in White Settlement, TX. He served 20 years in the US Army and retired as a CW2.  He then worked with the military as a civilian contractor. 

Gene was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Haymarket, VA.  He loved to golf and travel.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dorothy Gentry and their children; Sandy and Jim Saden, Don and Brenna Gentry, Sheri Gentry and Dee Dee Gentry; six grandchildren; JoAnne Smith, Shane Saden, Dustin Gentry, Deven Herrera, Alex Gentry and Amanda Gentry; three great grandchildren with two more on the way; siblings, Ricky and Debbie Gentry, Carlene and Willie Nance, Danny and Shelly Gentry; and…. let’s not forget his favorite companion Bear.

A “Ceremony of Life” will be held on June 6, 2018 at Gene’s favorite hang-out Pompano Joe’s, Miramar Beach, FL.  The family invites all to celebrate Gene’s life from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.  There will be military honors at 5:00 p.m.  Informal attire preferred, (cutoff sleeves optional)

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
