Edwina Mildred Burke, age 88, of Bruce, Florida passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her home. She was born June 10, 1930 in Honoraville, Alabama, the daughter of Edwin and Mildred Shelton Harwood. Edwina graduated from Walton High School and returned in later years as an employee of the Walton County School Board. She was a bus driver for 34 years and worked as a substitute teacher, well into her 80's. Edwina had the time of her life traveling and going on cruises with her sisters. Also, she enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching Alabama college football.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Burke and two sisters, Ethel Massey and Thelma Holley.
Edwina is survived by four children: Dale Burke and wife Karen, David Burke and wife Geneia, Donna Garrett, and Doyce Burke and wife Nadean; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Stella Broom and Barbara McLain.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home beginning at 1 p.m. with Reverend Michael Presley officiating. Committal services will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
