Diane Suhre Obituary

Diane Suhre, age 80, a longtime resident of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 26, 2019 while visiting her son in North Carolina.

Diane was born Nov 6, 1938 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  In 1959, Diane married James Edward Suhre in Southern Pines, NC.  For the next 25 years she followed his military career as a wife and homemaker to their five children.  They landed in FWB in the early 70’s, remaining here after Jim’s retirement in 1978.

A vibrant and outgoing lady, Diane never met a stranger.  She was happiest when with groups of family and friends and always had a kind word to say about anyone. Her children, grandchildren and great grands were her joy and delight.  She adored them all.  She was present for weddings, baptisms, holiday get-togethers and pool parties.  For many years she worked as a full charge bookkeeper in the construction industry.  After her retirement, she stayed busy with bridge groups, travel, cruises and volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary. Diane loved meeting new people, enjoyed local cuisine, needlepoint, sewing, crochet and knitting. As her grandchildren and great grandchildren were born, she enjoyed nothing more than making them blankets, bibs and towels.

A long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, over the years Diane participated in many Bible Studies and served on boards and committees. She loved Jesus and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Diane will be dearly missed by them.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Anita (Peloquin) and James Bryan; her husband, Jim; a son, Russell; and a granddaughter, Allison Angerman.

Surviving are her four children, Christopher (Ceci) Suhre, of Fayetteville, NC, Douglas Suhre of Fort Walton Beach, FL,  Deborah (Ray) Angerman of Fort Walton, and Antoinette (Richard) Bachtel of Mary Esther, FL; seven grandchildren, Evan Suhre, Amandalyn Gaubeart (Nate), James Aaron Suhre (Jordan), Ashley Maney (Drew), Austin Angerman, Jonathan Bachtel and Sarah Bachtel; and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Cammy (Jack) Koeber of Jacksonville, FL; and a brother, Danny Bryan of Melbourne, FL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Shalimar, 10 am, Rev. Ray Angerman officiating.  Burial will follow at 2 pm, Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Organ Fund at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home.
