Damon Lamont Smith, age 34, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. The cause of death is being determined, however is suspected to be due to complications from a long battle with chemical addictions and dependences. Damon was born at Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, Florida on December 22, 1984 to Kwanjai Smith and James (Jimmy) Childress, Jr. He grew up in Sunny Hill and Fort Walton Beach, Florida, graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 2002, had 3 beautiful children, and most importantly, confessed Jesus Christ as Lord.
He is survived by his 3 children; mother, Kwanjai Hutson (husband Todd); father, James (Jimmy) Childress Jr. (wife Debbie); grandmothers, Thanom Smith (maternal) & Maurice Childress (paternal); uncles Charlie & Eric Smith; half-sister, Jessica A. Childress (paternal); step-sisters, Zibiah & Zoreah Burden (paternal); aunts, Ann Smith & Gloria Childress (paternal) and many close cousins and other relatives and friends.
Damon was preceded by his maternal grandfather, Herbert (“Smitty”) Smith.
Paternal, maternal and other close relatives will gather “privately “at Davis Watkins Funeral Home.

Smith, support for education and intervention programs for persons with addictions and/or dependencies.
