MSgt Carlos Rafael Gonzalez Giron, age 76, resident of Bob Hope Retirement Village in Shalimar, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 24, 1942 in Ponce, Puerto Rico and married to Elizabeth Kovach Gonzalez in Shalimar, Florida on May 19, 2001. He dedicated his life to military service for the United States Air Force, he retired after 26 years as Master Sergeant and began to work at the Eglin Air Force Base Youth Center as a Supply Technician. He retired from this position at age 70 to enjoy his remaining years traveling, and dancing with his wife Elizabeth. His favorite pass time was to drink coffee outside early mornings and watch the bears as they snuck into the Bob Hope Village to drink water from the pool.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Elizabeth Kovach Gonzalez; daughter, Beatrix Kutleshi and spouse, Isa; grandchildren, Ardian and Sadie; daughter, Zita Veress, her spouse, Julian Rink; grandkids, Lilly Rink, Juliana Buckley, Gabriel Rink and Caleb Rink; daughter, Livia Veress, her spouse, Ian Foley; grandkids, Tristan Foley, Gabi Foley and pet puppy, Macika.
Carlos is preceded in death by his father, Rafael Gonzalez Moralez and mother, Aurea Ester Giron Quiles of Ponce, Puerto Rico and beloved pet, Theodore.
A memorial reception will be held on November 21, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Bob Hope Village 3 lounge room. Following the reception, a funeral service will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS, Pensacola, Florida at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors.
