Barbara Dorinda Salter

July 18, 1929 ~ October 3, 2019 (age 90)

Barbara Dorinda Salter, 90, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on October 3rd after a long illness. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Peter Salter, and four children, Scott Salter, Leslie Behnke (Rick), Cynthia Phillips and Jeff Salter (Laurie), her grandchildren Jeffrey, Brandis, Sarah and Ryan Behnke, Julie Phillips, JP and Justin Mikhael, and Jackson and Joseph Salter, along with many great grandchildren.

Dorinda, a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother, was born to Elizabeth and Eldred Dawes in Stamford, CT. She was raised in Greenwich, CT, where she attended Greenwich High School. She spent many summers with her beloved grandmother on a farm in New Jersey. After attending a two-year college and becoming a dental hygienist, the striking red head met & married the love of her life, Peter Salter. The couple were married in 1951 in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. They moved to Texas when Peter was stationed in the air force, and then they lived in Connecticut and Massachusetts, where they raised her four children. An avid bridge player, Dorinda also loved to spend her time drawing and painting. She has left behind beautiful artwork for her family to enjoy. She loved to cook and bake, and was famous for her amazing brownies and caramel sauce.

The Salters retired to Niceville, on the gulf coast of Florida, where they enjoyed the sunny weather and the relaxed life style. Her devoted husband, Peter, took care of her during her illness. They were the best of friends, spent every moment together, and their true love lasted through time.

Her gentle nature, kindness & beauty will be in our hearts forever.
