Dorinda, a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother, was born to Elizabeth and Eldred Dawes in Stamford, CT. She spent many summers with her beloved grandmother on a farm in New Jersey. The striking red head was raised in Greenwich, CT, where she attended Greenwich High School and met Peter, the love of her life. The couple were married in 1951 in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Dorinda attended a two-year college and became a dental hygienist. They moved to Texas when Peter was stationed in the air force, and then they lived in Connecticut and Massachusetts, where they raised their four children. An avid bridge player, Dorinda also loved to spend her time drawing and painting. She has left behind beautiful artwork for her family to enjoy. She loved to cook and bake, and was famous for her amazing brownies and caramel sauce.
The Salters retired to Niceville, on the gulf coast of Florida, where they enjoyed the sunny weather and the relaxed life style. Her devoted husband, Peter, took care of her during her illness. They were the best of friends, spent every moment together, and their true love lasted through time.
Her gentle nature, kindness & beauty will be in our hearts forever.
