Biography

Jean Rutherford passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday Feb.23 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 11 1935 in Portland, Florida to Mary Ethel Godwin and Leon Rudolph Taunton.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward H Rutherford; four children, Linda White (Ron), Sandra Odom (Jack), Renee Rutherford and Rodney Rutherford (Vicky); eight grandchildren, Cari Kinz, Jennifer Franciosi, Paige Godwin, Matthew Miller, Jessie Stalnaker, J.D. Rutherford, Christopher Rutherford, and Amanda Rutherford; and seven great- grandchildren. She also leaves behind, to cherish her memory, four sisters, Alene Lohner, Carolyn Roberts, Pat Bates, and Priscilla Thompson. “Ruby Jean” will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2010 at New Beginnings Church of Freeport beginning at 2 p.m. with Reverend Harold Taunton officiating. A time of visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hatcher Cemetery. Flowers are being accepted.
