Biography
Lyle "Jim" Edward Miller, age 80, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away
Thursday, January 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1929 in
Genoa, Ohio. Jim received his diploma from Houghton Lake High School and
entered the United States Air Force in 1947. He completed 21 years of
honorable service and retired in 1969. Jim went on to complete 16 years of
Civil Service as a Letter Carrier with the U.S. Post Office. He retired
medically in 1985. Jim arrived in Fort Walton Beach in 1964 and remained
there until 2002 when he realized his dream of a farm he named Paradise in
DeFuniak Springs.
Jim is survived by Deloris "Dee" his life time friend and partner, five
children, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 in the
chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak
Springs, Florida 32433, beginning at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Mike Mashburn
officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air
Force. Flowers are being accepted, or in lieu of flowers donations may be
made to Regency Hospice, 3590 US Highway 331 South, DeFuniak Springs,
Florida 32435. Jim has chosen to be cremated and his ashes be spread in
rural Walton County.
